"Earth Hour" Print E-mail

Lombard Tyres own unique "Earth hour" to give back to the environment, held at Lombard Tyres Head Office on the 27th of March 2009 between 13:00 and 14:00.

You might have heard that on the 28th of March 2009 a World wide campaign was launched, where they asked the whole world to switch of their electricity between 21:00 and 22:00 to vote Earth by doing so, and not to vote for Global warming.

They asked this to emphasize the fact that we are all aware of the effects of Global warming, and that we all want to give back to our environment, and try to help safe our environment, and Earth from downfall.

We as a Team at LOMBARD TYRES decided to give back to the environment and Earth in our own unique way, and joined this campaign together with the rest of the World.

We've decided to switch of all our electricity between 13:00 and 14:00 on Friday the 27th of March 2009 and to "Vote earth" and not for Global warming.

We planted 4 trees (Rhus Lancea) infront of our Head Office, to give back to our environment and earth.

We also sponsored 25 trees (Rhus Lancea) (symbolising the 25th years that we are in business) to the Mogale Municipality.  Eugene La Goff from the Department of Parks and Recreation represented the Muncipality on the day to accept the trees.  The trees once again symbolised our way of giving back to the environment and Earth on "Earth hour" as well as helping Mogale City with their "donate a tree campaign" for the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

We also registered Lombard Tyres on the website www.earthhour.org to help them achieve their goal of getting 1 billion votes for earth.

Here are some of the photo's taken on the day:
